On November 5, voters in the United States will go to the polls to choose their next president.
At first, the election was a rematch of 2020, but in July, President Joe Biden pulled out of the race and backed Vice President Kamala Harris.
The big question right now is whether America will have its first woman president or a second term for Donald Trump.

Which individual holds the lead in national polls?
Since Harris entered the race at the end of July, she has outperformed Trump in national polling averages. This is depicted in the chart below, with the most recent figures rounded to the nearest whole number.
On September 10, the two candidates squared off in a televised debate in Pennsylvania that was watched by just over 67 million people.
Harris' lead increased from 2.5 percentage points on the day of the debate to 3.3 percentage points just over a week later, according to the majority of national polls conducted the following week.
However, Trump's numbers were primarily to blame for that slight boost. Prior to the debate, his average had been rising, but a week later, it dropped by half a percentage point.
